The Role

Middlesex FA is inviting experienced professionals from a wide range of sectors to join its Board of Directors as it looks to strengthen its leadership and continue driving the development of grassroots football across the county.

As part of their ongoing commitment to good governance, innovation and sustainable growth, they are recruiting six new Non-Executive Directors (NEDs) to bring fresh perspectives, specialist expertise and strategic leadership to the Association.

These voluntary Board positions offer a unique opportunity to influence the future of grassroots football, supporting thousands of players, coaches, referees, volunteers, clubs and leagues across Middlesex.

Importantly, you do not need to have worked in football to apply, but a passion for the beautiful game at grassroots level is certainly desirable. They are seeking individuals with transferable skills, strategic insight and a passion for making a positive impact within their community.

Why Join the Middlesex FA Board?

The Middlesex FA Board plays a vital role in setting the strategic direction of the organisation, ensuring strong governance and helping the Association achieve its vision of creating more opportunities for everyone to enjoy football.

As a Non-Executive Director, you will work alongside an experienced and passionate Board, providing independent challenge, constructive support and specialist expertise that helps shape decisions for the long-term benefit of grassroots football.

Whether your background is in business, law, sustainability, education, local government, HR, commercial partnerships or another professional discipline, your experience could help influence the next chapter of football across Middlesex.

The Opportunities

Governance Lead (Non-Executive Director)

Middlesex FA are seeking an experienced and values-driven individual to provide strategic oversight of corporate governance, Board effectiveness and organisational accountability.

Working closely with fellow Directors and senior leadership, the Governance Lead will help ensure Middlesex FA continues to operate with the highest standards of transparency, integrity and effective decision-making while supporting a modern, inclusive and well-governed organisation.

This role is ideal for candidates with experience in governance, board leadership, corporate accountability or organisational strategy.

Legal & Compliance (Non-Executive Director)

Middlesex FA is looking for a senior legal, regulatory or compliance professional to help strengthen the Association's governance and risk management.

The successful candidate will provide strategic guidance on legal matters, regulatory obligations, safeguarding frameworks and compliance, ensuring Middlesex FA continues to operate safely, responsibly and in line with best practice.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to use their professional expertise within a purpose-driven organisation dedicated to supporting local communities through football.

Football Development & Partnerships (Non-Executive Director)

Football continues to evolve, and Middlesex FA are looking for a strategic leader who can help shape participation and growth across Middlesex.

This role will provide Board-level insight into football development, club support, workforce pathways, community engagement and partnership working, helping ensure football remains accessible, inclusive and sustainable for future generations.

Applications are welcomed from individuals with experience in sport, education, local government, community development or partnership-led organisations.

ESG & Facilities (Non-Executive Director)

Creating sustainable, inclusive and accessible football environments is central to the future of the game.

As ESG & Facilities Lead, you will help guide Middlesex FA's environmental, social and governance priorities while supporting the long-term strategy for facilities across the county.

Candidates with expertise in sustainability, property, infrastructure, facilities management or social impact will be well placed to help influence this important area of our work.

Commercial (Non-Executive Director)

Strong commercial performance enables greater investment into grassroots football.

As Commercial Lead, you will help Middlesex FA identify new opportunities for growth, strengthen strategic partnerships and maximise commercial income that can be reinvested into supporting local football.

Middlesex FA are seeking candidates with experience in business development, marketing, sponsorship, commercial strategy, brand development, customer growth or strategic partnerships.

Remuneration (Non-Executive Director)

People are at the heart of everything we do.

Middlesex FA are looking for an accomplished professional to oversee the Association's remuneration responsibilities, ensuring fair, transparent and effective reward practices that support the attraction, retention and development of talented people.

Experience in executive remuneration, people strategy, organisational development, HR leadership or governance would be highly valuable for this role.

Building a More Diverse and Representative Board

At Middlesex FA, we are committed to ensuring our Board reflects the diverse communities they proudly serve.

They welcome applications from candidates of all backgrounds and particularly encourage interest from women, individuals from ethnically diverse communities, disabled people, members of the LGBTQ+ community, and those whose professional experiences may bring fresh perspectives to football governance.

Previous experience within football is not essential. They value transferable skills, strategic thinking, professional expertise and individuals who are motivated by making a positive difference through sport.

Make Your Mark on Grassroots Football

This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the future of one of the country's largest County Football Associations.

If you are passionate about good governance, community impact and using your professional expertise to make a lasting contribution, Middlesex FA would love to hear from you.

To register your interest, please send your CV and/or a personal statement, outlining the role you are interested in and the skills and experience you would bring to the Board, to management@middlesexfa.com.

You could help build a stronger, more inclusive and more sustainable future for grassroots football across Middlesex.
