The Role

Following the current role holder taking up a new position on the board, Manchester FA is currently seeking applications for the following Independent Non-Executive role to serve on the Board of Directors.

Safeguarding Board Champion

 What will you do?

- You will lead and inspire the thousands of Grassroots volunteers across Greater Manchester to deliver a fun, inclusive and safe environment.
- You will report to the Board of Directors.
- You will work alongside the Senior Safeguarding Lead/CEO and also the Designated Safeguarding Officer.
- You will strategically lead the organisation's Safeguarding Strategy Group.  A group of football and non-football safeguarding professionals who provide their time voluntarily.


The INED that currently occupies such role will complete a three-year term at the end of this season, and in accordance with our Articles of Association (Articles 15 & 16, noted below) and The FA's Code of Governance, an open public recruitment process will now take place.  The current INED is eligible for re-election and will have to comply with the application process as noted in Article 16.

 

Article 15 - The directors will serve for a term of three years. Following which the persons appointed as directors pursuant to Article 16 shall retire but are eligible for re-election subject to the application process in Article 16. This article also applies to the replacement of directors who may resign, become disqualified or be removed pursuant to Article 22 at any point during the three-year term in place when they are appointed.

Article 15.1- Directors are permitted to serve for a maximum of three terms. A term being defined as a period of three years. In exceptional circumstances a director may hold office for a further year where the Board of Directors deem it in the best interest of the organisation.

Article 16 - As required a recruitment process shall be held to appoint directors in place of those retiring or resigning pursuant to Article 15. The recruitment of directors (Independent Non-Executive Directors) will be an open public recruitment process with the role and skill set clearly defined in the recruitment pack. All members will be sent details of the application process which must be completed and returned to the Chief Executive not later than such date as the directors shall prescribe. Applications will then be forwarded to the People Committee for consideration and nomination to the Board for ratification and appointment.
