Become a Trustee of the Royal Navy Football Association (RNFA) Charity No: 1164897
The RNFA is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) that was first registered in its current legal form on 17 December 2015. Previously, the charity operated as an unincorporated association before transitioning to its current structure.
The RNFA's charitable purpose is to promote the physical well-being of members of the Royal Navy and Royal Marines. We achieve this by providing administrative and financial support, along with facilities that enable both past and present members of all ranks, as well as their dependants, to engage in football activities.
To fulfil our objectives, we focus on several key areas:
- Improving choices and opportunities for playing football.
- Providing equal opportunities for women to participate in the sport.
- Influencing and supporting stakeholders in the Royal Navy regarding facilities.
- Ensuring inclusivity and non-discrimination while offering a wide range of opportunities.
- Creating new opportunities that cater to the needs of current and future generations.
- Addressing inappropriate behaviour within the game.
- Enhancing communication with our customers.
- Qualifying and developing referees, coaches, and volunteers.
The Royal Navy recognises that its personnel are crucial to operational effectiveness and values the diverse skills and talents of its members. The organisation is firmly committed to providing equal opportunities for employment, training, and advancement based solely on merit and ability. We strive to create an inclusive environment free from intimidation, humiliation, harassment, bullying, or any form of unfair treatment. As the most popular sport among Royal Navy and Royal Marines personnel, the RNFA plays a vital role in ensuring our members are fit for duty and for life.
The charity is governed by a board of seven trustees, of whom two are currently serving members of the Royal Navy. Collectively, the trustees possess experience in sports within the Royal Navy, human resources, employment law, charity administration, finance, legal affairs, equality, diversity, inclusion (EDI), and safeguarding. The RNFA employs a full-time CEO and Football Development Manager, along with a part-time Finance and Development Officer. Additionally, the Royal Navy provides a full-time civil servant to serve as the governance administrator.
We actively seek and welcome applications from individuals both within and outside the Royal Navy. We are particularly interested in diverse candidates who can bring energy, enthusiasm, and commitment to this unpaid position and contribute to a broader diversity of thought on our board.
The RNFA is dedicated to diversity and equality of opportunity in all of our operations, and we especially encourage applications from underrepresented groups.
