Marketing Executive - Grassroots Football
Vacancy description
Key Information
- Division:Marketing, Communications & Public Affairs
- Location:Wembley Stadium
- Vacancy Type:Full-time, Permanent
- Closing Date:23 August 2026
This role isn't just about marketing football. It's about using the power of football to drive societal change, breaking down barriers, challenging perceptions and creating more opportunities for women and girls in the game.
We're looking for someone who uses creativity, insight and storytelling to inspire action and shift perceptions to empower women and girls to believe they belong in football and wider society.
There has never been a more exciting time to be part of the women's game. Following back-to-back UEFA Women's EURO titles for the Lionesses, and with the FIFA Women's World Cup on the horizon in 2027, football continues to inspire a new generation. But while the game has never had greater visibility, too many women and girls still face barriers to taking part. Our ambition is to change that.
That's where you come in.
Your focus will be supporting our school's portfolio, where you'll deliver marketing across girls' football programmes, SEND football, major tournament activations and always-on content that helps more girls discover the game from an early age. You'll deliver campaigns, create resources and bring storytelling to life that equip teachers, inspire pupils and help build environments where every girl believes she belongs in football.
You'll also support wider participation initiatives, including strengthening the journey from school into community football, and celebrating programmes such as Rising Leaders, helping empower young women from ethnically diverse backgrounds to become the next generation of leaders.
It's a varied role where no two days are the same. One day you could be bringing a powerful story to life through content, the next launching a campaign, developing paid media activity or working with agencies to help more young people experience the benefits of football.
You'll have experience supporting multi-channel campaigns, excellent organisational skills, strong attention to detail and a proactive, solutions-focused approach. You'll enjoy working collaboratively while also having the confidence to take ownership, manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced environment.
If you're passionate about using marketing to create opportunities, challenge perceptions and leave a legacy for women and girls' football, we'd love to hear from you.
What will you be doing?
- Deliver marketing activity for England Football's schools programmes and Rising Leaders Programme, driving awareness, engagement and conversion.
- Plan and deliver integrated marketing campaigns across relevant channels, including CRM, paid media, social media and web, ensuring activity is delivered on time and to a high standard.
- Create and manage content plans that bring school programmes and Rising Leaders to life, developing engaging storytelling that showcases the impact of football in schools.
- Coordinate the development and delivery of campaign assets, including emails, toolkits, social content, and website pages, ensuring accuracy, consistency and strong attention to detail.
- Build a strong working relationship with the Marketing Executive to ensure connectivity between our school and community environments, to ensure synergy across messaging and audiences
- Support the Marketing Manager to activate Made for this Game in the school environment, with an ambition to inspire, break barriers and influence change, supporting our ambition to provide equal access and empowering all girls to believe that they belong
- Use insight to understand audiences, optimise campaigns and shape marketing activity.
- Manage campaign trackers, timelines and approvals, ensuring all activity is well organised, deadlines are met, and stakeholders are kept informed.
- Support the evaluation of marketing activity, reporting on campaign performance, capturing learnings and making recommendations to improve future activity.
- Work collaboratively with internal teams and agencies to support campaign delivery, manage timelines, coordinate activity and maintain clear communication.
- Identify and develop authentic stories, showcasing the impact of football and inspiring more young people to see themselves as part of the game.
- Build strong stakeholder relationships, proactively sharing updates, raising challenges early and ensuring colleagues and partners have confidence in delivery.
- Be a brand guardian for all in-school activity, ensuring creative outputs from internal teams and external agencies are aligned to brand and messaging guidelines.
- Executes additional tasks as required to meet the FA's changing priorities.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures to ensure that the highest standards of health, safety, and well-being can be maintained.
- As part of the FA's commitment to ensuring a safe environment for everyone in football, every employee will be required to complete a DBS check. The level of the check required will be based on the activity of the specific job role and in line with legislation and government guidance.
What are we looking for?
- Ability to support the development and delivery of marketing plans that align with objectives and KPIs, ensuring activity is delivered to a high standard.
- Understanding of content creation and storytelling, with awareness of youth culture and emerging trends.
- Knowledge of digital marketing channels and best practice, including social media, CRM, email, websites and content marketing.
- Strong written communication skills, with the ability to create clear, engaging and audience-focused copy.
- Understanding of brand principles and the ability to apply brand guidelines consistently across marketing activity.
- Strong understanding of diversity and inclusion, with a commitment to equality and representing football as a game for all.
- A logical yet creative approach to problem-solving, with the ability to identify solutions and improve ways of working.
- A collaborative approach with strong relationship-building skills and the ability to work effectively with a range of stakeholders.
- Experience working in marketing, communications, sport, youth-focused environments or a role involving project coordination and delivery.
- Ability to demonstrate managing multiple projects, priorities and deadlines while maintaining attention to detail and delivering high-quality outputs.
- Evidence of coordinating activity across internal teams, external partners and agencies.
- Experience supporting the delivery of multi-channel marketing campaigns, including briefing activity, managing assets and monitoring performance.
- Experience using campaign data and insights to evaluate activity, identify learnings and support recommendations.
- Ability to demonstrate managing project timelines and workflows to ensure successful delivery.
- Experience working with schools, young people or community environments is desirable but not essential.
- Excellent written English and proofreading skills, with a strong eye for detail.
- Strong organisational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritise workload, manage deadlines and coordinate multiple workstreams.
- Ability to create and manage marketing content across multiple platforms, including digital, email, social media and web.
- Creative mindset, with the ability to contribute ideas and bring fresh thinking to campaigns and content.
- Ability to champion brand guidelines and act as a point of contact for brand consistency across areas of work.

ABOUT US

The Football Association [The FA] is the not-for-profit governing body of football in England. It is responsible for promoting and developing every level of the game, from grassroots through to the professional game, and generates significant revenue to support investment into English football each year.
The FA oversees England international teams across men’s, women’s, youth and disability football, as well as running the National League System and FA Competitions including the Emirates FA Cup, and the Adobe Women’s FA Cup, and the world-class facilities of Wembley Stadium and St. George’s Park, all with a purpose to inspire positive change through football.
Our game can tackle some of society’s core challenges. It can bring communities together, nationally and locally. It can be a platform for inclusion, ensuring there is a place for all. It can get people active and promote wellbeing often at a time when we need it most. With UEFA EURO 2028 – hosted in the UK and Ireland – on the horizon, we have an incredible opportunity to transform football across the country.
Now is the time to inspire positive change.
We currently work within a hybrid working model whereby the expectation is to work from your contractual location for part of the week, and as and when required by the team. The remaining days can be worked remotely. We will continue to monitor this model, and it may be adjusted in future if deemed necessary.
Your contract with The FA will specify a fixed location of Wembley Stadium or St. George’s Park unless the role is advertised as a homebased contract. The contractual location of this role can be found at the top of this advert on our FA vacancy page.

THE PROCESS

We believe that assessment and selection should be robust, fair, and inclusive.
Following receipt of your application and the closing of the application process, you can expect a period of circa two weeks for us to thoroughly screen and shortlist, ahead of any next stage and interview.
Please note, we receive a high volume of applications so this can vary but we ensure that our assessor panel reviews all applications, and no use of automated screening or AI is used.
At an interview, we want to ensure that we see the best of you as an individual and increase our understanding of your skills and experience relevant to the demands of the role. It is very much a two-way process with importance placed on the candidate experience so that regardless of outcome, you feel valued, and treated fairly and hopefully have a positive experience.
No process is ever the same, but we would like to create an environment that is welcoming and ensures the experience is as enjoyable as possible.
We tailor our assessment and selection depending on the nature and demands of the role. The FA Resourcing Team will provide you with as much notice as possible about the process and the format of any interview will always be communicated to you in advance, including what to expect on the day and who you will be seeing.
We often receive a high volume of applications, and for certain roles, we will supplement your application, utilising our on-demand video interviewing platform. On-demand video interviews enable you to answer preset questions, in the comfort of your own home or office setting and at a convenient time for you, giving us greater insight into you as an individual and the skills and experience you might bring to the role and working at The FA.
We also utilise Microsoft Teams for virtual interviews and of course host you at our world class venues, Wembley Stadium and our National Football Centre, St. George’s Park.

GROUP STRATEGY

WE HAVE MOVED FOOTBALL FORWARD.
From 2020 - 2024, we have – in collaboration with our key partners – been able to deliver meaningful change across the game.
From winning our first major tournament in over 50 years to delivering thousands of high-quality pitches to the grassroots game.
BUT WE CAN’T STOP NOW - AND WE WON’T.
This new strategy is about doubling down. Our game can tackle some of society’s core challenges. It can bring communities together, nationally and locally.

With UEFA EURO 2028 – hosted in the UK and Ireland – on the horizon, we have an incredible opportunity to transform football across the country.
NOW IS THE TIME TO INSPIRE POSITIVE CHANGE.
Our ultimate purpose is to ‘Inspire positive change through football’ – everything we do ultimately ladders up to this end goal.
The 2024-2028 strategy focuses on tackling four long-term strategic challenges that will fulfil this purpose and drive real change across the game, our ‘Game Changer’ objectives.
Underpinning these Game Changers are then four activities and approaches that will enable us to meet challenges head on, our ‘Drivers’.

EDI STRATEGY

Our equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) strategy forms an integral part of our long-term commitment to using our influence across English football to create a game free from discrimination.
A GAME FREE FROM DISCRIMINATION
Our 2024 – 2028 strategy outlines three fundamental pillars for delivering a game free from discrimination – Boosting Representation, Driving Inclusion and Tackling Discrimination.
These pillars ensure that our work uniting communities, improving lives, and inspiring positive change on and off the pitch will remain a core priority for English football for years to come.
We are a diverse workplace, aspiring to represent football across the country. The FA actively promotes inclusion and diversity, encouraging you to be the best version of yourself at work.
We welcome applications from everyone and are proud to be an equal opportunities employer. If you have any particular requirements in respect of the recruitment or interview process, please mention this during your application.
