The Role

New Chair Required for Greater Manchester Women's Football Board

Since June 2022, the Greater Manchester Women's Football Board (GMWFB) has worked collaboratively to develop women's and girls' football at all levels. Participation has increased at the grassroots level, with more players on the pitch, female coaches on the sidelines, and women referees supporting games. Meanwhile, professional teams across Greater Manchester have grown stronger, contributing to the success of the Lionesses, who retained the Euros this summer.

Building on the excellent work of former Chair Karen Bardsley, the Board is now seeking to appoint a new Chair to lead the next phase of development. The successful candidate will play an active role in supporting the game and developing players, identifying partnership and funding opportunities, and making recommendations on future facility plans across Greater Manchester.

The Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) will act as the secretariat for the GMWFB, and the Board will report to both the GMCA and The FA.

GMWFB Members Include:

  • Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA)
  • Greater Manchester Moving
  • Sport England
  • Bright Futures Educational Trust
  • Football Foundation
  • Manchester Football Association
  • The Football Association
  • Independent representative
  • Youth representative
  • Youth Player representative
  • UEFA Women's EURO 2022 Host City Legacy Lead

Interested candidates should read the attached role profile below and send a CV and covering letter to connell.hopkins-tonge@greatermanchester-ca.gov.uk, who will forward the information to the shortlisting team. For further information, Connell is also available to assist.
